[By NBC-1TV H. J Yook]The World Taekwondo Headquarters Kukkiwon (President Jeong Mansoon) will be starting the 2016 Taekwondo demonstration regular performances starting February 23rd.

Since August of last year, Kukkiwon has worked alongside Gangnam-gu Office (Mayor of Gangnam-gu Shin, Yeon Hee) to hold regular performances meant to make Taekwondo demonstrations accessible as cultural products for tourists.

A total of 100 performances were held the past year over a period of 5 months and saw over 30,000 visitors, including foreign tourists.

Starting February 23rd, 2016 will also see daily performances (Tuesday – Friday 19:30, Saturday 17:00) held once a day for about 1 hour.

Starting this year, the Taekwondo demonstration performances, which will now charge visitors, has been reborn as a new program. It has been divided into a total of 3 parts, and will be held under the slogan of “Taekwondo Brightens the World” with the theme of Great Taekwondo. Furthermore, the program will also include
hands-on Taekwondo events for visitors.

The 25 members of the Kukkiwon Taekwondo Demonstration Team, who will offer up authentic Taekwondo performances, have undergone 8 hours of intensive training every day in order to present even more spectacular and dynamic performances than last year. The stage and lightning have also been taken a level further and will be revealing themselves to audiences brighter than ever.

After its foundation in 1974, the Kukkiwon Taekwondo Demonstration Team has toured 120 countries around the world to lead the globalization of Taekwondo and created new cultural value as civilian diplomats through the demonstration of authentic Taekwondo.
