[By NBC-1TV E. H Kim]GM Korea Company announced today that it sold 10,277 vehicles in the domestic market and exported 52,682 vehicles in February. Total sales for the month were 62,959 units, which was an increase of 14.7 percent from the same month last year, when GM Korea sold domestically and exported 54,891 vehicles.

GM Korea’s domestic sales in February registered a dramatic jump of 27.8 percent to 10,277 vehicles from the previous month. This was also an increase of 34.7 percent from 7,631 vehicles sold in February 2011. The growth in domestic sales was led by its competitive products such as the Alpheon and recently introduced Captiva 2.0 diesel model. Sales of the Alpheon and Captiva increased 56.2 percent and 83.7 percent respectively from the previous month.

Exports of complete vehicles in February totaled 52,682 units. This was an increase of 11.5 percent from 47,260 units exported in the same month last year. GM Korea also exported 92,299 complete knockdown (CKD) kits of parts and components to be assembled into vehicles in February.

“We expect Chevrolet sales to remain strong in our brand’s second year in Korea through innovative customer care programs such as Chevy Care 3-5-7 and new models including the Captiva 2.0 diesel and Alpheon eAssist,” said Ankush Arora, GM Korea Vice President of Vehicle Sales, Service and Marketing. “In order to continue strengthening our domestic sales in March, GM Korea will arrange a series of marketing promotions and aftersales campaigns in connection with the first anniversary of Chevrolet’s launch.”
