J Yook]Korea Human Resource Development Institute for Health and Welfare, KOHI (President; Lee Sangyong) successfully concluded ‘National Health Insurance System, Child and Maternal Policy for Peru’ cooperated with KOICA. 15 directors and coordinators who are in charge of maternal & child health policy and system of Peru, participated in this program from October 11 to 27, 2012.
The program was designated to contribute to the maternal and child health of Peru and help the decrease of Maternal Mortality Rate(MMR) and Infant Mortality Rate(IMR) to achieve the Millenium Development Goals by 2015. Trainees also participated in the workshops passionately for action plans. Quality lectures were given to the participants by lecturers from medical schools, Korean Institute of Tuberculosis, Korea CDC, Planned Population Federation of Korea. The participants visited Eumsunggun public health center, National Health Insurance Corporation, and midwife clinics. They went to Gyeongju cultural heritage and POSCO Steel Mills to see Korea's culture and industry.
Dr. Elizabeth Zulema Tomas Gonzales said “In general, the program is organized and packaged very well. KOHI, the best HRD institute in Korea, give me practical knowledge, ideas and management skills” and “Especially I liked the lecture about leadership which President SangYong Lee delivered. It is exactly the key component for the development of Peru.”
KOHI runs various programs, including Health Policy and Program Management, Population and Reproductive Health, and Competency Enhancement of Diagnosis and Treatment of Autistic Spectrum Disorder for Child to promote the world's health.
