[By NBC-1TV H.J Yook]EnterpriseDB (EDB), the leading worldwide provider of enterprise-class Postgres products and Oracle database compatibility solutions, today announced it has expanded its Postgres Plus Cloud Database to support Amazon Web Services‘ virtual private cloud (VPC) feature. EDB also today announced the launch of its Postgres Plus Cloud Database on Amazon Web Services’ Asia Pacific (Sydney) region in Australia.
The expanded capability of the Postgres Plus Cloud Database and launch into a major new market follows a year of spectacular growth in the solution's customer base and a 200 percent increase in revenue during 2013.
Postgres Plus Cloud Database has several critical distinctions from cloud-based databases. Postgres Plus Cloud Database is based on an architecture purpose-built for the cloud so that it scales automatically in response to fluctuations in demand for processing power, server capacity or network capacity. An easy-to-use management console simplifies database deployment and monitoring, and users can control automatic performance scaling by setting triggering thresholds. Postgres Plus Cloud deployments include support from a team that focuses exclusively on Postgres(http://www.enterprisedb.com/products-services-trai...).
Postgres Plus Cloud Database supports both community PostgreSQL and EDB's flagship Postgres Plus Advanced Server, which extends PostgreSQL with enterprise-class security, performance and manageability enhancements.
“Our cloud database is supporting more complex and larger enterprise workloads and that means greater demand for security and control,” said Ed Boyajian, CEO and President of EnterpriseDB. “As our users move from development to production deployments, we‘re expanding our feature set to ensure Postgres Plus Cloud Database supports evolving business needs in the cloud. And our tremendous growth in demand for our cloud database shown by the 200 percent increase in revenue confirms we’re on the right track.”
