[By NBC-1TV H. J Yook]GM Korea Company announced today that it sold 9,808 vehicles in Korea and exported 35,359 vehicles in August, for total monthly sales of 45,167 vehicles.
The company’s domestic sales in August were down 14.0 percent from 11,408 vehicles sold in August 2011, while the automaker’s vehicle exports in August decreased 17.8 percent from 43,036 vehicles exported in the same month last year.
August vehicle sales were negatively impacted by weak domestic market demand, the company’s traditional summer shutdown and an inventory shortage due to work stoppages related to ongoing labor negotiations.
In August, GM Korea also exported 95,254 complete knockdown (CKD) kits of parts and components to be assembled into vehicles.
