[By NBC-1TV H. J Yook]GM Korea Company announced today that it sold 13,159 vehicles in Korea and exported 53,470 vehicles in October, for total monthly sales of 66,629 vehicles.
The company’s domestic sales were up 19.0 percent year on year. It continued to be led by the Chevrolet Spark, which generated sales of 5,640 vehicles. The positive response for the new model year Chevrolet Malibu resulted in an all-time monthly sales record for the midsize sedan since its launch last year.
Exports of complete vehicles totaled 53,470 vehicles in October, a drop of 8.7 percent year on year. In October, GM Korea also exported 102,697 complete knockdown (CKD) kits of parts and components to be assembled into vehicles.
"October was another outstanding month for us due to strong demand in Korea for our entire series of new model year products,” said Ankush Arora, GM Korea Vice President of Vehicle Sales, Service and Marketing. “We expect sales to grow further throughout the rest of the year, buoyed by aggressive sales promotions such as the Interest-Free Installment Program - which has been extended to the Orlando - as well as the Korean government’s reduction of the Individual Consumer Tax until the end of 2012.”
