[By NBC-1TV H. J Yook]Philippines, January 18, 2014 - The 2014 Incheon Asian Games Organizing Committee (IAGOC), Otsuka Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (Otsuka) and the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) signed the Sponsorship Agreement for the Asian Games during the 32nd OCA General Assembly in Manila, which enables Otsuka’s product, Pocari Sweat to be recognized as an official sports drink for Asia’s biggest sports event.
The Incheon Asian Games will mark the fifth time the Pocari Sweat manufacturer has been an official Partner of the Asian Games since they first participated in the 1994 Hiroshima Games. The company also signed a separate agreement to extend its sponsorship as a Partner to the 2019 Asian Games which will be held in Hanoi, Vietnam.
To date Samsung Electronics, Shinhan Bank, Korean Air, SK Telecom, Hyundai Kia Motors and 361° have joined the 17th Asian Games as Prestige Partners, the first-tier sponsorship, with the Swiss watch brand Tissot and Otsuka participating at the second-tier Partner level.
IAGOC’s Secretary-General Mr Kwon Kyungsang said, “The world’s leading company Otsuka joining in the Incheon Asian Games will greatly contribute to making the event a global one and we will do our best to host the most successful Games ever.”
